In 1999, the NRHA initiated a new award for the highest scoring Sire & Dam Program "Offspring" in the finals of the Open and Non Pro Futurities. A Mehl Lawson Bronze Trophy is awarded to each of those horses in recognition of their accomplishments in achieving Futurity Finalist status.
